Badger Hole Fire Devastates Parts of Colorado and Kansas
The Badger Hole Fire originated early in the afternoon Tuesday, April 17th, 2018 in Baca County, Colorado and has since spread over 48,000 acres across Eastern Colorado and Western Kansas. Over 31 agencies and 100 fire personnel have responded to help combat the blaze, which at last report was 85% contained. Media reports suggest that of the 48,000 total acres burned thus far, 15,000 acres are located in the state of Kansas. Initial media reports suggest eight homes are a total loss as a result of this fire. Livestock and other outbuilding losses have also been reported, but the total of these losses is not yet known.
An investigator is currently on scene gathering evidence and information and will hopefully soon be able to shed light on what started this devastating Badger Hole Fire.
Currently assisting in the representation of individuals impacted by the Starbuck Fire, Shane has become acquainted with the devastation property owners endure following a fire of this magnitude. The Starbuck Fire of March 6th, 2017 burned a total 662,687 acres in Kansas and Oklahoma after a poorly maintained power line in Beaver County, Oklahoma ignited the fire. The Starbuck Fire burned in excess of 460,000 acres in the state of Kansas making it the largest fire in Kansas history.
