Shane and Kirstin attend Dr. Douglas A. Girod’s Installation as the 18th Chancellor of the University of Kansas
A chancellor is the formal head of a University who is responsible for its overall operation and spearheads the University to meet goals and overcome challenges. The individual who undertakes this complex leadership role must be able to draw upon his own personal strengths and professional skills. The Kansas Board of Regents appointed Dr. Douglas A. Girod as the 18th chancellor of the University of Kansas in July 2017. Chairman Dave Murfin says, “The Kansas Board of Regents selected Dr. Girod as chancellor because of his tremendous expertise in higher education, his commitment to serving the state and nation, and his passion for KU. He is the ideal person to honor KU’s traditions and history while leading this great university into the future.”
Dr. Douglas A. Girod’s installation took place on April 20, 2018 in Lawrence, with a luncheon held at the Dole Institute for Politics and ceremony following at the Lied Center. The installation ceremony is only part of two weeks of inauguration activities, which include community service opportunities and social activities. As a member of the Kansas Board of Regents, Shane and his wife Kirstin had the honor of attending Chancellor Douglas A. Girod’s installation. Below are photographs from the event and a short video of trumpets sounding before the processional. Kirstin observed, “It was a day full of pomp and circumstance and plenty of academic regalia!” Chairman Dave Murfin presented Dr. Douglas A. Girod with his official collar after which Chancellor Girod delivered his inauguration speech declaring his vision and priorities for KU.
